North Carolina is a beautiful state located in the southeastern region of the United States. Known for its stunning natural beauty, thriving economy, and diverse culture, it is no surprise that many people are choosing to make North Carolina their new home.

One of the primary reasons people are moving to North Carolina is for its excellent quality of life. With a mild climate, diverse landscape, and abundant recreational opportunities, North Carolina is a great place to enjoy the outdoors. From the beaches on the coast to the mountains in the west, there is no shortage of things to see and do.

North Carolina is also known for its vibrant economy. The state is home to many leading companies in industries such as technology, healthcare, and finance. This has created a strong job market, making it an attractive destination for those seeking career opportunities.

People move to SE NC for a variety of reasons. A common theme among them is quality of life. Wilmington and the surrounding area offers a variety of attractive lifestyle benefits. Weather, the beach, small town feel with big city amenities, central coast location... just to name a few. Certainly we have our fair share of retirees, but in a post-pandemic era, may have discovered that they can work from anywhere- so why suffer thru long, grey winters when you could be zooming from you sundeck? Coming from the West Coast? Real Estate is a bargain! Wilmington is a melting pot of people from all over the Country and the Globe. The ease in which incoming residents can become a part of the community and have a sense of community is highly attractive. There is someone, and something for everyone. In addition to its strong economy, North Carolina is a great place to raise a family. The state has a high quality of education, with some of the top universities in the country located in the state. The cost of living is also relatively low, making it an affordable place to live compared to other parts of the country.

Another reason why people are moving to North Carolina is for its rich cultural heritage. The state has a long and fascinating history, which is reflected in its architecture, museums, and festivals. North Carolina is also known for its diverse population, which has contributed to a thriving arts and music scene.

Buyers moving in from out of state have shared so many reasons why they've chosen coastal NC to call home. Among the top reasons is they've always wanted to live where they vacation. Over the last few years, many people who dreamed of retiring "one day" to our coastal communities have discovered the increased ability to work from home has allowed them to make the move now rather than waiting for retirement. I've also had numerous clients choose NC without ever having been here before! Those individuals research the climate and the environment and the activities which they are searching and inevitably WIlmington, NC and our surrounding communities make the list! I believe the growing accolades for our area topping several lists such as riverwalk communities, best beaches and more has brought even more attention to the area. And who wouldn't want to live in a state where the beaches are beautiful, a mountain getaway is possible, aquariums, zoos, golf courses and so many other activities are at your fingertips? Afterall, #lovewhereyoulive is popular for a reason! - Teri Moylan, Broker/Realtor

When it comes to healthcare, North Carolina is home to some of the best hospitals and medical facilities in the country. The state has a strong healthcare system, with many top-rated medical schools and research institutions. This makes it an ideal destination for those seeking high-quality medical care.

Specifically, in my years in property management, I have heard hundreds of investors state they moved to the Wilmington area because it is unlike anywhere else on the east coast. Many had plans to purchase so they could hold property until they were going to retire and later move down into their investment home. I dealt with many service members in Onslow and Pender counties who were being stationed elsewhere but wanted to hold onto their homes for investment purposes. Time and time again I heard the plan was that as soon as they retire they wanted to come back. In fact, I moved to NC after my ex-husband finished up in the Navy and we realized that it was the best place to start our business (in the Piedmont Triad) and be close to his family in the Goldsboro area. - Nancy Baldridge, Broker/Realtor and Listing Coordinator

North Carolina is a wonderful state with a lot to offer. With its beautiful natural scenery, strong economy, excellent education system, rich cultural heritage, and friendly communities, it is no wonder why so many people are choosing to make North Carolina their new home.
