For Keller Williams RED Day in 2021, KBT Realty Group - Keller Williams INNOVATE spent the day at Canines for Service, a Wilmington NC-based nonprofit organization the supports veterans with trained service dogs.

Kirk Pugh, Co-founder, KBT Realty Group: The second Thursday in May every year is RED Day for us. Every year on the second Thursday, every Keller Williams office around the world shuts down and gives back to the communities they serve. KBT's choice this year, and our permanent non-profit partner, is Canines for Service.

Bethany Leighton, Executive Director, Canines for Service: We are super honored that KBT Realty Group has chosen us for their RED Day of service. We are a local nonprofit here in Wilmington North Carolina, and serve veterans across the nation from all conflicts and all branches of the military who have PTSD, traumatic brain injury, mobility challenges, or who have experienced sexual trauma. We work with them to provide a highly trained service dog, at no cost, to help them accommodate and overcome that challenge, or that need.

Kirk Pugh: We love everything about what they do and are really excited to throw our support behind them. We do that both financially, and as you can see behind me today, we do that physically by coming in and serving the shelter and taking care of the dogs and helping them with their mission to provide service animals for our veterans. 

Becky Brown, Co-founder, KBT Realty Group: So today at Canines for Service, we will be painting: refreshing the walls, refreshing the bathrooms, and after that, we get to do the fun part because we get to play with the pups. 

Tara Jones, Branch Manager, HomeStar: Today I'm helping the team with painting the big blue wall behind me. KBT invited me because we work together, but also because we share the same community values. We want to work and give back to our community as much as we can. Canines for Service is a great organization for that.

Bethany Leighton: It's our 25th anniversary and we are just incredibly grateful that KBT has chosen Canines for Service to come and spend the day here. As you can see, they are doing an incredible job painting and giving us a fresh new look so when our veterans come for team training, it's a warm and welcoming environment.
