Beyond Buying and Selling Real Estate: Giving and Receiving Help in the Aftermath of Hurricane Florence

A couple weeks ago, Hurricane Florence ravaged Wilmington NC and the southeastern coastal region.

KW Cares provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in hurricane relief grants, hundreds and hundreds of dollars in gift cards for immediate financial assistance, thousands of volunteer hours, and a warehouse full of supplies for remediation, recovery, and sustaining our families while we put our beautiful city and beaches back together.

The KBT Realty Group community is deeply moved. After the hurricane, KW Cares reinforced an important lesson for our agents and associates: both receiving help and being able to give help contribute to the process of healing.

In the immediate aftermath of the storm, the impact that KW Cares made on Wilmington North Carolina was measured in dollars, manpower, and acts of caring:

• $306,570 advance emergency grants for evacuation assistance and storm relief
• 4 semi-trailers carrying love and supplies for hurricane victims
• 130 grants made for hurricane recovery
• Hundreds of gifts cards distributed for immediate needs
• Hundreds of supplies distributed, including generators, power cords, cleaning supplies and tools, drinking water, and living essentials
• More than 300 volunteers from Keller Williams offices around the country
• 59 flooded houses stripped to the studs and cleaned
