KBT Realty Group SkillBridge FAQs
What is SkillBridge?
SkillBridge is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of military service prior to separation. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners and real-world job experiences designed to facilitate transition to civilian careers upon separation from military service. What are the requirements to get approved for SkillBridge?
You must contact your base SkillBridge point of contact to obtain the SkillBridge application package. KBT Realty Group will provide an approval letter as well as the internship training
Do I need to be a licensed real estate agent prior to participating in the internship program?
Although it is not required for an intern to be a licensed agent, not being licensed will limit some of the training and skills you acquire. KBT Realty Group suggests our interns be enrolled in a real estate pre-licensing program and working towards licensing so all aspects of training can be completed. How long is the internship program with KBT Realty Group?
The internship can be customized for a 3-month to 6-month time period. The three months is to ensure the basics of our program are provided, and the DoD has a limitation of six months. KBT’s internship program is an “in-person” training program. We do not offer a virtual option. Will I receive compensation from KBT Realty Group during my internship?
The terms of the SkillBridge and Career Skills Program prohibit the intern from receiving any form of compensation for work/time provided during the internship program. The military is still providing full pay and benefits to the military member during the entire term of the internship. What type of training will I receive?
We intend to have our interns follow the same requirements as our Sales Associate 90+ Development Plan which outlines the goals and requirements for our new real estate agents joining KBT Realty Group. Adjustments will be made as necessary so our Service member learns all aspects of the business of real estate and depending upon the Service member’s licensing status. Our interns will work closely with our lead generation department to learn the art of selling, overcoming objections, listening and applying those skills to set appointments and close transactions. Lead generation will be the most intensive and concentrated area for the interns as this is the basic tenent for building your real estate business.
Our interns will also learn other real estate fundamentals including all aspects of the home buying process, the listing/sale process, as well as the real estate listing process and transaction coordination process.
