Hi, we're here at Provisions at Holden Beach, a great little restaurant with an open bar up top and deck with live music on weekends, as well as a place to dock your boat and just relax and maybe play corn hole for the day.
I wanted to speak to you for a minute about Holden Beach and some of the things that go on here. Holden Beach has about 930 residents year round and spans out to 10,000 people throughout the season and the summer. What's Up | From our calendars
We are wrapping up October with the Access ILM gala on Oct 29. Access of Wilmington is a non-profit that operates programs to eliminate barriers to health and wellness through sports, recreation, and fitness for those in our community with disabilities.
Then, on Saturday Nov 27, we are going to enjoy the Wrightsville Beach Holiday Flotilla at Wrightsville Beach Park, when all types of boats cruise from Snows Cut to Carolina Beach Boat Basin, and they are decorated with thousands of lights.
We're looking forward to the Southport Wooden Boat Show on November 6th. This year is the 12th annual, and it's back to an in-person event. Southport, North Carolina, is a city on the western bank of the Cape Fear River, near the mouth where the Intracoastal meets the Atlantic Ocean. The city is about 2 miles inland from the Ocean. Southport is connected to Pleasure Island, with the cities of Fort Fisher, Kure Beach, and Carolina Beach, and the city of Wilmington, via the Southport-Fort Fisher car ferry that goes back-and-forth across the river. Southport is in Brunswick County, with a 2018 census population of 3,828.

Although locals refer to "Hampstead" as if it is a city, Hampstead is actually an unincorporated community within the Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area, in Pender County. Between Wilmington and Jacksonville, Hampstead lies along the Atlantic coast and U.S. Route 17.
Pender County has big plans for Hampstead, with an expanded county water system, and additional sewer systems. NCDOT has proposed a Hampstead bypass that would tie into the new I-140 Wilmington bypass. Highway 17 was recently upgraded to a 4-lane road in an effort to accommodate area growth.
Hampstead is just minutes from the beautiful beaches of Topsail Island, with the resort-style attractions of Surf City, Topsail Beach, and North Topsail.

Surf City, located on Topsail Island, is actually in two counties, Pender and Onslow. The Pender County piece of Surf City is in the Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area, and the Onslow County portion is in the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The Surf City population in the 2010 census was 1,853.
Surf City encompasses 5.3 square miles, of which 4.2 are land and 1.1 is water. The city has recently annexed land west of Highway 17, which extends the town limits.
