What's Up | where we love dining al fresco
The Cargo District just north of Historic Downtown Wilmington has been building up these days. Bull City Cider Works is recently opened and has a nice little outdoor area where you can grab a drink and food from a food truck. The Counter is always a great place to grab a burger and sit in the courtyard area, and CheeseSmith has a few spots outside to grab and eat one of their amazing sandwiches and parm fires ( they also have GF bread options). We tend to go to places that have food trucks so we get a variety of food while enjoy our favorite outdoor spaces. Developing Brooklyn Arts and Soda Pop Districts have some great spots also. Flytrap Brewing has a great outdoor area and a good rotation of food trucks. Edward Teach has a patio where you can overlook the Wilmington Rail Trail that may soon become a gorgeous park/walkway. We take visitors to Smoke on the Water which has a great bar, tons of outdoor seating, and their food is fresh and good. Marina Grill is also a great spot to sit out on the patio and get a couple appetizers and drinks and look out on the boats and the Cape Fear River, they have a great brunch on Sundays. - Katie Young, Client Care Specialist - Broker/Realter®

One great thing to come out of adjustments made during COVID is that many restaurants that started outdoor dining as a necessity have kept it due to popular demand. Many of the great hotspots in downtown Wilmington offer al fresco dining with only 2 or 3 outdoor tables, including a local favorite, Beer Barrio. As the name suggests, you'll find some of the most inventive tacos and bowls and please, indulge in the hushpuppies filled with fresh corn, jalapeno, cotija cheese and chorizo! You'll find everything in Historic Downtown Wilmington, from a quick bite in cafe sidewalk seating, to a gourmet meal with occasional music along the Cape Fear River. Across the bridge to Wrightsville Beach is a personal favorite for my family: South Beach Grill. They take locally sourced products from the land and the sea to an elevated menu at reasonable prices, and feature chalkboard specials based on availability of foods. If you've never heard of southern fried black eyed peas or low country seafood mac-n-cheese, then South Beach Grill should be your next stop! - Teri Moylan, Broker/Realtor®
We have several favorites on Pleasure Island, which is Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. For something casual, the Ocean Grill & Tiki Bar in Carolina Beach is a real treat. There are outdoor dining tables as well as the bar near the end of the pier, all overlooking the ocean. The food is really tasty. Another is Carolina Smokehouse rooftop bar. It is located on the Carolina Beach boardwalk and the bbq is outstanding. For finer dining, a must is Havana's on Lake Park Blvd. There is outdoor music and the menu is great. There are many more, including The Lazy Pirate which also has casual dining and live music as well as volleyball and axe throwing. Never a dull moment on Pleasure Island! - Mary Ellen Slugg, Director of Operations
We love to take in the panoramic Wrightsville Beach sound sunset views at South Beach Grill for special occasion dining. Mac's Speed Shop on Oleander Drive lures you in with the delicious smell of their on-site smoked meat. They offer picnic and bar tables outside and sometimes live music. We love it even when it's chillier as they have a big fire pit and their "garage doors' open so you could sit halfway in and out and watch a game on the MANY TV's they have inside. Their service is excellent too so it's a fave. - Nancy Baldridge, Listing Coordinator, Broker/Realtor®

Nancy Baldridge, listing coordinator, ran into Fred Teachey, Realtor® and his wife Tammy (left to right) at the John Waite/Men at Work and Rick Springfield concert at Red Hat Amphitheater in downtown Raleigh. "Wilmington and southeastern North Carolina offer tons of live music, and a drive to Raleigh isn't that big a deal when you are a real fan," Nancy says.
Kirk Pugh is excited to welcome a puppy to the Pugh household. Meet Yeti, a Newfiedoodle, and soon to be the youngest - but not smallest - dog in the KBT canine crew. Yeti is already stealing hearts at our dog-friendly office.

Reviews | feedback from our buyers and sellers
"Our realtor Ms. Nancy Schappell as well as coordinator Ms. Kristine Roody was fabulous from start to closing sheparding us through the buying process as well as protecting our interests and working with the builder on construction issues. Ms. Schappell was recommended to us by a high performing realtor whom we have worked with on another property. If you are considering buying in the Wilmington, N.C., or for that matter anywhere else, I would highly recommend Ms. Schappell and KBT Realty." - Steven March, Google Reviews
