November 2021 Around the Azalea Coast | events and community news in Southeaster Coastal North Carolina
Updates and Happenings from beautiful Southeastern Coastal North Carolina.
"Leave footprints of love and kindness wherever you go."
What's Up | From our calendars
We are wrapping up October with the Access ILM gala on Oct 29. Access of Wilmington is a non-profit that operates programs to eliminate barriers to health and wellness through sports, recreation, and fitness for those in our community with disabilities.
Then, on Saturday Nov 27, we are going to enjoy the Wrightsville Beach Holiday Flotilla at Wrightsville Beach Park, when all types of boats cruise from Snows Cut to Carolina Beach Boat Basin, and they are decorated with thousands of lights.
We're looking forward to the Southport Wooden Boat Show on November 6th. This year is the 12th annual, and it's back to an in-person event. It's held in and around the historic Old Yacht Basin from 10 to 4, with lots of vendors, demonstrations, kids' events, and of course lots of beautiful wooden boats.
Freedom Sailing is holding its 2nd Annual Cornhole Tournament - with lots of prizes - at Capt'n Bill's Back Yard Grill on November 14. The first one was lots of fun, with food, drinks, friendly competition and prizes for the 1st and 2nd place winners, plus a 50/50 drawing. Come out and help support this fundraising event. Register here.
We have out of town guests for the Thanksgiving holiday, and a favorite Wilmington event for visitors is walking through the gardens at Enchanted Airlie to admire the holiday lights. Enchanted Airlie opens on November 26th & 27th. Tickets go on sale November 3rd at 9am.
Cotton Top Horse Farm & Rentals will bring horses to the south end of Topsail for a one-hour beach ride, so I am going to go horseback riding with my daughter.
Community Spotlight | Where You're Looking Right Now
Two of the most popular website searches in October were for homes in the city of Surf City, on Topsail Island, and the community of Hampstead, located in Pender County but within the Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Surf City is 5.3 square miles - 1.1 of which are water - and offers the benefit of two neighboring towns on Topsail Island, North Topsail Beach and Topsail Beach, for a bounty of dining and recreational activities. Beautiful beaches are definitely a highlight for both residents and visitors.

Although Hampstead is not technically a city, this Wilmington community is rich with local history, and is growing because of its proximity to the water, highly rated schools, great restaurants, and prime location between Wilmington and Jacksonville.

Reviews | feedback from our clients
- Myself and family are on our third purchase through the KBT Group and second directly with Becky. She has always been “on top” of things and has insight as an experienced local. She is our automatic selection to represent us, without hesitation. - Mike Souther
- I worked with Adam from a long distance. He showed me properties via video and updated me with any information on every property we got interested in. He always followed up with and questions I have and giving me his honest opinions. I enjoyed working with him and his calmness and consistency gave me the confidence from far, and to this day I haven't me Adam in person, but he has beencontacting me to see how things are going. This shows me really cares about his clients and their success. I definitely would recommend Adam to others and I will work with him again when I'm ready to get another property in NC. - via Facebook
