Broker Amy Jones Yerdon is currently focusing on the Carolina Beach area, including Kure Beach immediately south of Carolina Beach. Amy sees great opportunity there, with lots of new families moving to the area. There are single family homes, short-term rental properties for investment, and many other real estate options that fit a variety of buyers.
Carolina Beach Opportunities for Home BuyersThere is a lot of movement within the Carolina Beach community, Amy observes, with many local improvements, including building out the boardwalk, improving handicap accessibility, and increasing local events and festivities. "Carolina Beach is really pulling it together to get on the map," she says.
Buyers looking for a price point that is a bit more friendly than on the other beaches may find what they are looking for on Carolina Beach, although Carolina Beach, like all the other beaches, is still pretty competitive. House hunters really need to evaluate where their family wants to be, as each beach community has a distinct personality.
A Local North Carolina PerspectiveAmy loves all the beaches, having grown up in Wilmington. She can give buyers a "local perspective." Amy got married on Topsail Island, and has a home in Carolina Beach. She spends weekends visiting all the local beaches.
The Wilmington area and the surrounding beaches - Wrightsville Beach, Topsail Beach, Kure Beach, Carolina Beach, and Surf City - are a destination location. Lots of people relocate to the area from out of town, especially the upper east coast and the midwest.
Residents of the beaches enjoy everything the diverse southeastern coastal Carolina area has to offer. They vary their recreation options, spending time on the sand at a favorite beach, accessing boats docked at local marinas, exploring different islands by sea, or opting for the downtown night life. A lot of island residents venture into Historic Downtown Wilmington for restaurants, shops, and a funky urban vibe complete with container homes and a whole different feel from the various beach towns.
"You can come to the Wilmington area and get a specific need filled," says Amy. "At Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, there's a great opportunity to invest in the real estate marketplace. I can show prospective buyers a variety of single family homes, townhouses, and duplexes. There are empty lots available for people to purchase now and build a home later."
"The Carolina Beach and Kure Beach market has shown a great opportunity to grow and become the type of destination that makes it an excellent investment right now," she adds.
