What's Up | enjoy a flurry of new restaurants
Spring is arriving and bringing with it some new restaurants in the Cape Fear area, the expansion of some of our favorites, and others moving to new locations. Fill the coming month with visits to some of these exciting eateries:True Blue Butcher and Barrel in the South Front District is owner/chef Bobby Zimmerman's spinoff of True Blue Butcher and Table. At 110 Greenfield Street, this new venture of Zimmerman's serves "reinterpreted bar food," with nods to Asian street food. Order the kai yang wings and enjoy outstanding craft cocktails.
Bald Head Coffee, which was started 2021 as an online-only company, has opened a coffee showroom in Southport, featuring small batch, roasted-in-the-Carolinas coffees.
Independence Mall, which has undergone a recent large-scale renovation, has added new eateries to the food court, including Jersey Mike's Subs, First Watch, Masa Sushi & Eastern Kitchen, and Aye! Toro. California-based Dave's Hot Chicken will open in March.
Pho Vanhly in Porter's Neck opened in November and features Lao-Vietnamese dishes, including spring rolls, banh mi, lettuce wraps, and noodle specialties.
Aidan Crofton is moving his artisan soft pretzel bakery to a new location on Market Street, with almost double the space at 2000 square feet.
Brooklyn Arts District is the lucky neighborhood for the new eateries The Kitchen Sink and Three10 Restaurant. Just a few blocks away in downtown, at 224 South Water Street, Sauce'd has opened as Wilmington's first cocktail lounge and fry bar.
