The practice of a real estate agent providing a client with a housewarming gift is not uncommon. But KBT Realty Group of Wilmington is shifting gears in 2020. For every closing that occurs during the calendar year, the organization will donate a brand-new bicycle to be given to a child in need in the greater Cape Fear area.
The program, which was launched on January 1, 2020 will enable KBT Realty Group to expand its charitable activity, which has included work with the American Heart Association, the Miracle League, Toys For Tots, and Habitat for Humanity through KW Cares and the Keller Williams Wilmington team. KBT Realty Group is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year and according to Kirkland Pugh, president, that milestone represented the perfect opportunity to give back to the community.
“KBT Realty Group has been so fortunate to have made dreams happen for so many families in this area, we wanted to be able to extend our reach,” said Pugh. “Through this effort and the continued support of our clients, we are hoping to make the dream of having a brand-new bicycle reality for those children who never thought they would have that opportunity.”
The bicycles will be donated at the end of the year, in time for the holidays. The goal is to exceed 250 bicycles and Pugh said he is confident the KBT Realty Group team of agents will exceed expectations.
“This program is really designed to help us personify our mission to add value to the communities in which we live and serve,” he said. “This team has truly embraced this challenge knowing that in the end the result of their hard work and efforts will not only benefit those buying and selling homes, but the children whose holidays will shine a little bit brighter.”
