House Hunting with KBT: What We Love About 1701 Carolina Beach Avenue, Carolina Beach NC
Fred Teachey, Broker/Realtor, shares what he loves about the six bedroom single family home - and the ocean views - on the north end of Carolina Beach.
What is unique about this property?
The location is magnificent! On the north end of Carolina Beach, it's a two-block walk to the Carolina Beach Fishing Pier and two blocks in the opposite direction to beautiful sandy beaches. This is a single family home with typical southeastern coastal construction: parking is under the home, with stairs up to the first floor where there are four bedrooms, and then up again to the third floor and two additional bedrooms plus a large open kitchen + living space that is perfect for lounging and entertaining.
The double porches are awesome, with ocean views and plenty of room for outdoor dining.
This home has a history as a successful vacation rental - it has been BOOKED SOLID from January through September, so if you opt not to live here full-time, your beachfront home will help pay for itself.

Which room do you love the most and what is special about it?
The great room on the third floor has a super fireplace to gather around, and the sliders open wide to let the ocean air in. Your friends will clamor for invites to enjoy oceanfront living.

What most surprised you when you first saw this home?
The home is on the second row from oceanfront, but you are really right on the water! The site-lines to the ocean are unobstructed, and the views are awesome. The shore here has been refurbished with giant boulders, and it's great for perching and meditating on the sunrise. Freeman park is just a few blocks north, and is a popular spot for locals and their 4-wheel drive vehicles for a day of sand-camping and enjoying the ocean.

What is the neighborhood’s personality?
Carolina Beach has a laid-back, friendly atmosphere with a combination of tourists during season, and a steady year-round population. Many of the people who vacation here have been returning for years, even decades, and there is a very familiar feel along the newly redeveloped boardwalk. Stop by Britt's Donuts for a local favorite, run into Veggie Wagon for wine and happy hour snacks or a homemade ice cream, and partake of the various art shows and fests around the little lake.
Carolina Beach is super dog-friendly, too, and the outdoor shower is perfect for rinsing sandy paws - as well as feet - after a long walk.

What do you think is special about living in this area?
Carolina Beach isn't just a coastal village, it's a lifestyle. With a recent surge of trendy restaurants tucked in amongst traditional favorites, seafood and regional cuisine are hot here! The Carolina Beach crowd comprises hipsters, soccer moms, seniors, artists, entrepreneurs, and tourists - it is sophisticated but not stuffy, and ready to welcome anyone who enjoys the "salt life."
