Teri Moylan, Broker/REALTOR®, offers her knowledge of Carolina Beach, just across Snows Cut Bridge on the Atlantic Intra Coastal Waterway, and the first town on Pleasure Island.
A Top-Rated Coastal Carolina Beach TownCarolina Beach is just south of Wilmington, North Carolina, and is a great vacation spot, and a wonderful location for people who want to buy their share of the dream and live at the beach. It's a sportsman's paradise in terms of sports fishing and boating and many other things. If you want to take surf lessons, stroll along the beach, or enjoy a dip in the ocean - which during the summer months can get up to 80 degrees.
"I've lived a lot of places, and I've visited many beaches," say Teri, "but there are not many beaches across the country where you can swim in something that feels like bath water and is still refreshing!"
Local love Carolina Beach for all that it has to offer, from the shops, the restaurants, and Britt's Donuts. The boardwalk helps make Carolina Beach a wonderful place to live year-round. It's also a great location for someone who is looking for a vacation home. A number of vacation home owners are not from states away, but just a couple hours away in the Carolina area. Carolina Beach is an easy place to get to in terms of driving through North Carolina and hitting a little bit of paradise.
In addition to being able to find all the beach toys, sunblock, and t-shirts that you find in any coastal town, you will find very unique shops in Carolina Beach. There's everything from artisan crafts and jewelry, to homemade furniture and great boutiques. There is a wide variety of shopping beyond the touristy, beachy aspect of the town and life at a beach.
Carolina Beach has a population of about 6,000 people. It's known as a great vacation spot, and it's a great year-round community. You will find real estate from townhomes and condominiums, to single family residences. When you cross Snows Cut Bridge from the Intra Coastal Waterway, you have the Intra Coastal, the Atlantic coast, and lots of variety for waterfront or near-waterfront life and properties that are in communities as well as property that is outside of communities.
One of the great things about Carolina Beach that Teri says her family loves is all the parks in the town. There is Carolina Beach, where visitors can find the Venus Flytrap in its native habitat. There are overnight campsites, hiking trails, and a beach that is on the Cape Fear River instead of the Atlantic coast. On Pleasure Island, Carolina Beach is also home to an 11-acre fresh water lake with a surrounding park, playground, covered picnic tables, and entertainment in the summer, including free movies and farmers' markets. This is a great recreational area just two blocks from the ocean.
Other parks in Carolina Beach include a skate park, a dog park, and some great baseball fields.
Carolina Beach Real EstateWhile the current market means that homes are selling fast, Teri says, there is always a wide variety of properties available, from townhouses, condos, and single family homes. There are a lot of waterfront or waterview properties to choose from. One of the things that makes Carolina Beach special, Teri notes, is that there are also Low Country style living communities that are just a little ways from the ocean, but that look like a traditional community you would see in a non-coastal area.
What to Do in Carolina BeachWhile the permanent population is about 6,000, it does swell during the summer. Locals especially love living in coastal Carolina during the winter months, when some days can have temperatures in the seventies, and the towns are a bit less crowded. There are enough restaurants, shops, and entertainment open year-round for residents to find plenty to do. From a stroll on the beach to find some shells and browsing the delightful local shops, there's always an activity to partake of in Carolina Beach.
At the recently refurbished and expanded Carolina Beach boardwalk, retro-style boardwalk games and small carnival rides will be making a return. "In addition to that fudge and ice cream you are going to find at any beach town," notes Teri, "Carolina Beach is also very popular for Britt's Donuts, undoubtedly some of the best donuts in the country."
Lots of residents get around Carolina Beach by foot or bicycle. Residents who are in town year round, or who may just be vacationing, may also choose to get a golf cart. It's very easy to get around town without a car.
Ready to Sell Your Carolina Beach Home? While Carolina Beach may be some house hunters' dream vacation, if you are living on Carolina Beach now, it might be time for you to make a change.
"If that's the case," says Teri, "you need to know that there are lots of people looking in the area, and ready to make a move to Carolina Beach."
"It's really important that if you are selling, you work with someone who knows how to tell the story of your home, who knows how to market it to the right demographic," she emphasizes.
The type of people who are moving into the area are really varied, Teri notes. KBT Realty Group has the ability to identify and market homes for sale to a large database of people who KBT has been building over years. People who are ready to buy their vacation home, move to their dream location, or retire at the beach are the type of people to whom a great Realtor will advertise your home for sale.
"Work with a real estate professional who knows how to market Carolina Beach homes for sale," says Teri, "and who has the tools to reach the right audience."
